This life na real plot twist sha.

You know when you were younger and you thought 25 looked like a fully furnished apartment, a thriving career, summer vacations, and a relationship that made sense?
Lmao. We were all living in “delulu.”

Because nobody, absolutely nobody, warns you about the wahala that comes with entering your mid-20s. Not one single soul.

Let’s break down the mid-20s chaos no one warns you about.

1. The Marriage Talks Will Start Coming from Everywhere

You can’t cough in peace without someone asking, “So when are we coming to eat your rice?
You change your WhatsApp DP to anything remotely romantic, and Auntie Ngozi is already asking if she should sew aso-ebi for your introduction.
Let’s not even talk about family group chats where prayer points are now suspiciously about “settling down early.”
You’re not even dating anybody, but everyone has booked your future wedding like it’s Detty December. Nobody warns you that “single and unbothered” turns into a community project by 25.

2. Suddenly, You’re Expected to Become a Provider

Nobody tells you that the day you collect your first salary, Black Tax will carry chair and sit in your account.
You go from “daddy’s boy” to “uncle please send ₦5k.”
You start seeing debit alerts with emotional guilt attached.

And God help you if you’re the firstborn, you’re now HR, finance, and emotional support rolled into one.
The worst part? They won’t even ask how work is going. It’s just “Hope you’ve sent it?” No “hello,” no “how was your day?” Just debit alert.

3. Freedom Becomes a Gift and a Trap

You finally get that independence you’ve always wanted… and now you’re looking around like, “Wait, who’s supposed to tell me what to do now?”
There’s no school bell, no timetable, just you, your Google calendar, and pure vibes.
You start saying things like “I’ll circle back” even when you don’t know what you’re circling back to.
But you also have to decide everything yourself. What you eat, where you live, how you pay NEPA bills, what job to take, whether to rest or grind harder, and nobody cares as long as you “figure it out.” It’s thrilling, and terrifying.

  1. Life’s Choices Are Not That Simple Anymore

Should I do that master’s degree or focus on japa?
Do I stay at this job for the “experience” or leave for the mental peace that I clearly deserve?
Do I move back in with my parents or pretend I can still afford this apartment?

Nobody tells you that choosing a career, relationship, or even what city to live in often feels like trying to read a book written in invisible ink. Everything looks good until it isn’t.
Your life becomes a walking multiple-choice question with no correct answer.
And the worst part? Every decision feels like it could ruin or redefine your whole life. Deep stuff.

5. Your Body Will Start Submitting Small Complaints

You’re 27, not 60. So why does your back creak like a door hinge when you stretch?
You eat late one night and your stomach rebels for 48 hours.
Your skin used to glow naturally, now it needs skincare, sunscreen, toner, serum, prayer, and small luck.
Even sleep stops being rejuvenating. You nap and wake up more tired.
Nobody told us that your mid-20s come with body maintenance like you’re now due for servicing every 3 months.

Long Story Short

Your mid-20s are beautiful… but also a joke you didn’t sign up for.
The expectations are loud, and your mind is somewhere between “I’m doing okay” and “should I start farming?”

But one thing’s clear:
You’re not alone.
We’re all figuring it out. Confused. Tired. And still showing up anyway.

Just remember to drink water, reply to that text, and stretch your back before it locks again.
