U.S city declares July 7 Davido Day

Guess what, party people? Get ready to celebrate because every July 7th is officially Davido Day in the vibrant city of Houston, USA! That’s right, the afrobeats sensation, David Adeleke, also known as Davido, is being honored in a big way.

The super cool Mayor of Houston, Sylvester Turner, dropped the bombshell by making an official proclamation. In a statement released in Houston, Texas, he declared, “I, Sylvester Turner, Mayor of the city of Houston, do hereby proclaim July 7, 2023, as Davido Day.” How awesome is that?

Davido couldn’t contain his excitement and shared a copy of the statement on his Instastory. I bet he’s feeling like a true king right now, and rightfully so! { picture of the official document}

This incredible recognition comes on the heels of Davido’s mind-blowing sold-out show at the iconic Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. The energy was electric, and Davido absolutely owned that stage. It’s no wonder the Mayor had to step in and give him this well-deserved honor.

But hold up, this isn’t the first time such a tribute has been bestowed upon an African artist. Back in 2019, Wizkid, another Nigerian superstar, received a similar honor. After making history as the first African artist to sell out the Skyway Theatre in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA, Governor Mark Dayton declared October 6th as Wizkid Day. Talk about leaving a lasting impact!

So, Houston, get ready to party it up every July 7th for Davido Day! Let’s celebrate the incredible talent, the infectious beats, and the undeniable influence of Davido. It’s a moment that will go down in history, and we’re all lucky to be part of it. Keep shining, Davido!
