“Pastor: Come to my office
Me: Okay Sir.
We entered the office
Pastor: Shut the door
No, I did not think anything absurd, he is my pastor, isn’t he? He did not say lock the door, he just said, shut the door which is normal, so I thought.
Before then, I was one of those people who never believed that a pastor could do wrong or should be questioned. I used to think they were all saints, with no stains at all. I thought wrong
Let me tell you a bit about my Pastor.
I would have loved to call him Fire but that name belongs to someone else. He is one of those aggressive preachers, in a good way though. He has a unique method of disciplining us (Church workers). Every Sunday, there is one thing or the other.
It is either we are sowing seed or contributing to something or someone.
when we go late for workers’ meetings, get flogged with a drum stick. I feel dumb typing this sef. At first, my friends and I thought it wasn’t bad.
After all, he is just disciplining us abi??
My boyfriend then did not like the church but I did not care. It was my church and my pastor.
On this very day, I wore joggers and a top to church for drama rehearsal before someone will ask what I was wearing.
Anyway, I left a dance class to church for rehearsal. While in class, we took mango, and a little spilled on my top, I wiped it but it was still obvious, I just left it, after all, it was 6 pm.
I couldn’t go home to change because of the mango stain na.
A few days before D-day, he had gotten angry and flogged me for entering the same bike with a fellow church worker (male). I explained to him that I helped him just at the junction so that he won’t be late and be flogged. He said it did not mean. He even asked if I was loose.
I got angry but who was I to get angry with a man of God? I just let it pass and kept wondering why he didn’t flog the guy or ask him if he was loose.
My friend, Sisi was in church as well, he actually called us both to his office. He said we should hug him to greet him while he was sitting, so we had to bend. Pastor told my friend he wanted to see what was written on her top, so she tried to drag it down for a clearer view but he insisted on doing it himself (I can’t remember that part very well).
He told her to leave but he asked me to stay back to finish the discussion that started over two months ago.
I was still standing there when he noticed the mango spill on my top, actually on the br**st part, he asked what it was while trying to touch it, I moved back stylishly to tell him what it was and how it got there, but he never gave up until he touched
it.
After my talk, when I was about to leave, he stood up to give me the tightest and the most uncomfortable hug ever!!! I left in confusion.
I couldn’t even wait for drama rehearsal to be over, I just left the church.
Who will I tell Bayi?
Maybe it’s not what I’m thinking. You’re just overreacting jare, I thought.
I was wondering why the man that flogged me for entering the bike with another guy will hug me so tightly
Was he jealous? Or did he think I was sleeping with the guy or any guy in church? Did he really think I was loose?
I finally told Sisi about it and she had also been thinking about it too even before I told her.
Meanwhile, my other friend had experienced something with him twice. He actually hit her butt on two occasions as if he was spanking her jokingly.
Before we started attending the church, someone already warned us about it, she said she stopped attending the church but did not tell us why.
Until that day happened, we never suspected that something like that will ever happen.
Till now, I’m not sure if it was sexual harassment or something else.
I felt bad. We couldn’t confront him.
Duh??? He is the owner of the church, we can’t tell him to step down na.
We did not have any proof, just words of mouth that could be made up, right? So we kept shut and still attended the church but I wasn’t actively involved anymore.
I was also in a children’s church. I could not have left the children like that without an explanation.
My precious children!! Eventually, we left.
A few months after, a former church member broke the news that some people accused the pastor of immorality. How come? It wasn’t us.
Little did we know that some people had had experiences but these ones were wise enough to speak up and were bold to leave the church immediately.”
*Sighhh
I haven’t recovered from reading this. It’s sad how many atrocities these so-called men of God create and get away with. Anyways, there you have it…please, share your thoughts in the comments.
