2018 was a year which saw many beautiful celebrity unions and as the end of the year draws close we decided to spotlight these glamorous high profile weddings in no particular order.
1.) Omawumi and Tosin Yusuf
The soulful singer, Omawumi and the father of her children, Tosin Yusuf, traditionally tied the knot early this year. The pair originally tied the knot legally back in 2015 and their traditional ceremony in Warri saw many celebrity friends coming together to celebrate their special day.
2.) Gbemi Olateru-Olagbegi and Femisoro Ajayi
On-air personality and fashion entrepreneur, Gbemi Olateru-Olagbegi tied the knot to her sweetheart and Falz' manager, Femisoro Ajayi in a surprise fairytale wedding ceremony for the history books.
3.) Fatima Ganduje and Abolaji Ajimobi
Kano state governor’s daughter, Fatima Ganduje tied the knot with her sweetheart Abolaji Ajimobi who is the son of Oyo state governor in a spectacular series of traditional wedding ceremonies.
Their wedding which was a grand display of the Northen and Yoruba Culture was a beauty to behold.
4.) Makida Moka and Oliver Onyekweli
Model and actress, Makida Moka, got married to her beau, Oliver Onyekweli, who she met on a trip to Olumo Rock that her then-boyfriend and friends all refused to accompany her on.
The true meaning of don't let your boyfriend stop you from meeting your husband.
5.) Oluwadamilola Osinbajo and Oluseun Bakare
This was certainly an exciting one.
Damilola Osinbajo, the daughter of the Vice President of Nigeria, got married to her sweetheart Oluseun Bakare with the President of Nigeria and a number of high-profile dignitaries in attendance.
6.) Lala Akindoju and Chef Fregz
Surprise weddings were definitely a thing this year and this one came as a huge surprise to most of us.
Actress, Kemi Lala Akindoju, and celebrity chef, Gbubemi Fregene popularly known as Chef Fregz, tied the knot in a sweet intimate ceremony attended by family and friends.
7.) Fatima Dangote and Jamil Abubakar
Fatima Dangote, the daughter of Nigerian billionaire Aliko Dangote, tied the knot with her love Jamil Abubakar, a pilot and the son of the former Inspector General of Police M.D Abubakar, in an 8 part wedding ceremony. Their wedding was a grand display of tradition and love which had many dignitaries like President Muhammadu Buhari, the Emir of Kano, Bill Gates, the President of Ghana Nana Akufo-Addo and many more in attendance.
8.) Ihuoma Linda Ejiofor and Ibrahim Suleiman
Nollywood actress, Linda Ejiofor and her forever lover, Ibrahim Suleiman brought their on-screen love to reality as they traditionally and officially tied the knot a few weeks ago. The beautiful couple surprised us with their union although we probably should have seen it coming and now we just can't seem to get enough of them.
9.) Gabriel Afolayan and Banke
Actor and Musician, Gabriel Afolayan got married to his sweetheart Banke in an intimate and quiet wedding ceremony early this year.
10.) Sharon Oyakhilome and Phillip Frimpong
Sharon Oyakhilome, daughter of Pastor Chris Oyakhilome and her sweetheart Phillip Frimpong tied the knot at the Christ Embassy Headquarters in Lagos in a beautiful ceremony officiated by Pastor Benny Hinn.
11.) Zainab Balogun and Dikko Nwachukwu
Actress, Zainab Balogun, pulled a surprise on her fans when she wedded the CEO of JetWest airline, Dikko Nwachukwu, after having been in a private relationship for some time the pair made it official in an intimate ceremony with close friends and family in attendance.
12.) Ooni of Ife and Prophetess Naomi
Ooni Adedeye Enitan Ogunwusi of Ife received his new Queen Shilekunola Moronke Naomi into the palace a few months back after all the necessary rites had been fully performed. The union came as a surprise like many others this year.
13.) Kenneth Omeruo and Chioma
Super Eagles defender Kenneth Omeruo got married to his heartthrob Chioma in an intimate event in Istanbul, Turkey earlier this year and we absolutely loved everything about their low-key wedding ceremony which was attended by celebrities like Praiz and Iyanya.
14.) Hauwa Indimi and Muhammed Yaradua
Hauwa Indimi, the youngest daughter of famous billionaire oil mogul, Mohammed Indimi, and her love Muhammad Yaradua, the son of the late managing director of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, Abubakar Yar’adua, tied the knot early this year with a beautiful ceremony celebrating the Northern culture.
15.) Iheoma Nnadi and Emmanuel Emenike
Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria 2014 Iheoma Nnadi had her white wedding ceremony with her love Super Eagles Striker Emmanuel Emenike earlier this year. The couple who have been together for a while were already blessed with a child at the time the white wedding ceremony took place.
16.) Dj Consequence and Olayemisi
Top Nigerian Dj, Dj Consequence, and his heartthrob, Olayemisi, tied the knot earlier this year with an incredibly lit ceremony which is what you'd expect from a Dj like Consequence.
The couple already had a child together at the time of the white wedding ceremony.
17.) Mocheddah and Prince 'BK' Bukunyi Olateru-Olagbegi
Singer and fashionista Mo’Cheddah and her fiancé Prince ‘BK’ Bukunyi Olateru-Olagbegi got married early this year in a secret and quiet intimate ceremony after getting engaged back in 2017.

18.) Xerona Duke and Dj Caise
Xerona Duke, the daughter of former Cross River State Governor Donald Duke, and her sweetheart Derin Philips popularly known as DJ Caise, the son of Chief Mrs Teju Philips tied the knot early this year after getting engaged back in 2017.
The wedding had high profile guests like Aliko Dangote and Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II in attendance.
19.) Nuella Njubigbo and Tchidi Chikere
Actress Nuella Njubigbo and producer/director Tchidi Chikere celebrated their white wedding ceremony in Lagos early this year after having tied the knot traditionally four years ago.
Celebrity guests, Rita Dominic, Kate Henshaw, Daniel K Daniel, Gordons, Frank Edoho, Osita Iheme and many more all came out to celebrate with the couple.
20.) Chidiogo Akunyili and Andrew Parr
Chidiogo Akunyili, the daughter of the late Dora Akunyili, and her soulmate Andrew Parr had their white wedding ceremony in a beautiful and unconventional way. The bride wore a white embroidery dress with lacey patterns which had an African touch and her groom wore a traditional white attire with a colourful pocket square.
This wedding is definitely going down in the history books as one of the best in recent times.
These beautiful weddings shaped our 2018 and we can't wait to experience the beautiful unions that 2019 has in store but it wouldn't be right to conclude this list without mentioning the non-Nigerian weddings that got all of us talking this year.
