Biggie Biggie Drama: An Evening at the Africa Magic Originals Exclusive Screening

Four! Not one, not two — but four brand-new Africa Magic Originals are about to hit your screens, and we got the exclusive first look at their premiere event.

From the waiting area alone, it felt like stepping into a whole new galaxy. Fans, stars, producers, and media heads mingled with energy, laughter, and a healthy dose of Lagos-style excitement.

As your resident “shy writer,” I quietly observed from my corner (you know my vibe), just so I could gist you properly. Let’s dive into the tea.

The Star Power

On the guest list were some of your faves:

The Originals Lineup

We were treated to sneak peeks of every upcoming series, and trust me, the lineup is STACKED and you will love eeeeettttt… There is action, thrillers, a large dose of love & all things lovey-dovey, some fights here & there, a bit of culture & throwbacks, sprinkled with some juju and so much more.

Low Priest

This one shook me small as the opening scene came with some bloodshed.

Just know that this is not for the faint-hearted. It is a cultural thriller blending tradition and modernity; it digs into:

• Greed and corruption of village elders

• The pull of football vs priesthood

• Youths resisting traditions they no longer feel tied to

With Nollywood legends like Norbert Young, Emma Umeh, Charles Obah, Akim Ayobamidele, Low Priest promises to keep you on the edge of your seat.

The series premieres on September 29th and will be showing every weekend on Africa Magic Showcase by 8pm.

Mother of the Brides

“It’s a legacy, and legacy needs to be shared.”

But how do you share a legacy when there’s rivalry, debt, pride, widowhood, and family drama all mixed in? Omo, you will get to find out as the series progresses.

Mother of the Brides is messy in the best way – expect petty squabbles, women’s rivalry, lavish spending, the fear of bankruptcy, battle for class, and laugh-out-loud chaos. Starring Gloria Young, Linda Ejiofor Suleiman, Kalu Ikeagwu, and other talented Nollywood stars, it’s the dramatization of ‘aura for aura,’ a full-on rollercoaster that will make you laugh, cringe, scream & react in ways you can’t imagine.

There is the theme of family, sacrifice, loyalty, pride, widowhood, debt & more. And it premieres on September 29th… You will be able to catch new episodes every week from Monday to Wednesday on Africa Magic Showcase.

Etiti

Now, this one gives goosebumps for free. A powerful Igbo epic that dances between life and death, love and betrayal.

The story showcases so much, but the list I have below gives a pretty good summary:

• A man who dies before his time, wandering between worlds

• A princess with a good heart and her loyal but heartbroken maid

• An osu struggling with societal rejection

• A treacherous elder hungry for blood

It’s mystic, emotional, and deeply rooted in Igbo culture. For me sha, it is a love story that would get you wishing for the love of your life to find you like Yesterday.

The story delves deeper into the life of a beautiful princess with a good heart, her sad best friend who is her maid & an osu with limited marital prospects, and a traitorous & wicked elder who is out for blood to ruin the village.

There is one part of the movie that got me…The part where the lead actor and actress said, “Our love will endure,” but the question on my mind is, “For how long will it last!?” Anyways, you will get to find out, when you jump on this series.

I can’t give too many spoilers, but here are what the stars of the show had to say during the live Q&A session:

Lead actress Elma Mbadiwe spoke excellently about how she was able to embody the role. She said, “I am an Igbo woman, and mystics are not new to my tribe. “Igbo & juju na one.”

Basketmouth also teased about what to expect as the drama unfolds, “The realm is ambitious, the story is beautiful, & the twists and turns will keep you on your toes. Actually, there are about 5 major twists. At the end, you will be angry, happy, upset — everything in one.”

Chika Aguike (the lead actor) talked about his character’s most vulnerable moment in the series, stating that it was, “when he found out that he couldn’t save Chisom (his love interest).”

On the list of its cast and crew are Chika Aguike, Elma Mbadiwe, Bethel Njoku, Morgan Nwamba, Ify Dike, Solomon Adekunle (Director), Bright ‘Basketmouth’ Okpocha (Producer), Miz Vick (the Agba writer), Senator Comedian, and many more.

Etiti premieres on October 2nd and will be showing every Thursday & Friday on Africa Magic Showcase.

Rise Again

Finally, a vibrant modern story packed with music, dance, and Gen Z energy. You can also call it a BBNaija stars reunion movie.

With stars like Koko by Khloe, Saskay, Liquorose, Hermes, Femi Branch, Mr P, Kaffy, and more, this one is for the youths. Expect passion, rivalry, love, and that classic “senator’s daughter meets ordinary boy” tension.

Lead actor Save Tony (in his first big role) said it best: “Dance is follow-come — it’s inborn.”

Rise Again was directed by the one and only Unlimited LA and premieres this October
