The Real Prices vs The Online Lies
Once upon a time in this same Nigeria, Black Friday used to be black.
Fast-forward to today?
Black Friday doesn’t even greet us again.
Half the time, you don’t even know it has started until you mistakenly open an app and see “70% OFF” boldly written, meanwhile, the price is the same amount you saw last week before they quietly added +₦15,000 “discount.”
1. Black Friday No Dey Black Again
There was a time when Black Friday had ginger. We would circle the date on our calendars, save money, and build bucket lists filled with everything from air fryers to wigs to Bluetooth speakers.
The plan was simple:
Wait for Black Friday
Buy everything at half price
Smile like a thief that stole a discount.
2. Before Price vs After Price is The Biggest Scam
Brands will show you:
Before: ₦20,000
After: ₦19,999
A whole one naira discount. Like wow.
Some even add money during Black Friday and still shout “70% OFF!”
At this point, the math is no longer mathing rara.
3. The Spark Is Gone and Nigerians Know
Prices rise on Monday, “slash” on Friday, and remain the same the following week.
The magic has gone.
It’s not Black Friday, it’s Black Fraud-day.
4. Flash Sales That Flash and Vanish
“Only 5 left!”
Three days later, there are still 5 left.
Why are you lying bayi?
But one thing is sha sure, Nigerians will always expose fake discounts faster than we expose NEPA.
Because if you like, you can lie to the rest of the world…
But don’t comman lie to someone that has been tracking the price of a fridge since May.
