Dear Nigerians, if your 9mobile SIM card could talk, it would probably need therapy.
Hmmmm the fourth biggest telecommunication company in Nigeria has come with another rebrand and this time, the name is T2.
The colour has changed from Green to Orange! changing the brand’s identity.

1. 2008: (Etisalat Green SIM), sleek ads, and that 0809ja swagger. Nigerians fell in love.

2. 2017: (9mobile) Etisalat ghosted us. 9mobile showed up and we made peace with that.

3. 2025: (T2) Now we’re in our robot era. T2 sounds like a transformer but we moveeee.

If telco had a résumé, this one would need extra pages.

Each name came with a promise of better service, faster, long lasting data, and cooler branding, but omoooo (side eye).

The chief Executive officer, Obafemi Banigbe assured that the change is necessary for them to give their best.

According to reports, when Etisalat originally launched, the company had over 22 million subscribers, a very strong competitor, but different challenges made them drop to 3.2 active users by 2025. Hmmmm Nigerians are not even playing! If you do anyhow, they show you anyhow

To regain their steeze in Nigeria, they recently entered an agreement with MTN Nigeria which is expected to expand T2’s network coverage and improve service quality for its remaining subscribers.

Nigerians on Twitter definitely had a lot to say about this rebrand from 9mobile to T2:

The main thing now is, some stubborn Nigerians still never got used to calling it 9mobile when that shift was made, they still stuck with Etisalat. Let’s see how quickly they adapt to T2!
Let us sit back and watch, who knows, T2 might just surprise us!
