Falz's socio-conscious album Moral Instruction was trending for many reasons at the beginning of the year. While some applauded his rebel through music, others dragged Falz over his comments on transactional sex. The album which has nine tracks touched on every aspect of the Nigerian society; the good, the bad and especially the ugly.
now, featuring Demmie Vee, Falz has dropped the video for "Hypocrite", leaving us in awe of his creative genius. The Prodigeezy-directed video is largely symbolic with Falz labeling everyone a hypocrite.
Here are social issues Falz tackled in the video
Corruption under the blanket of religion
Nigeria is high on the list of religious countries in the world but you know which list we also top? The list of the most corrupt countries in the world. In the video, Falz spoke to religious people who try to remove the speck in another's eye while there is a whole log in theirs.
The video shows a Muslim man who steals out of the pocket of his brother while praying to the same God who has forbidden his servants to steal.
The cruxification of homosexuals
In many African countries including Nigeria, homosexuality is met with a stiff punishment; jail time and sometimes, even death. Falz's video has implied that homosexuals in the society are criticized by the very same people secretly engaging in the act.
Domestic violence against women
The society glorifies marriage but turns a blind eye to violence against women. Domestic women is a 'crime' our law enforcement agency is not quite interested in fighting. Many Nigerian women end up extremely hurt while trying to avoid the shame of being a 'divorced woman'.
Women in Nigeria are still being dealt an unfair hand with issues like marital rape still not being criminalized.
If you abuse your woman but go around criticising others, Falz is calling you a hypocrite!
The menace that is SARS
Just a few days ago, members of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad gunned down an innocent man in a shoot out. News like this one has become so common in the society instilling fear in the hearts of the ordinary citizen.
In the video, Falz merged the topic of electoral violence and SARS showing that Nigerians in power are indeed the problem.
The voting Nigerian
Oh, you're an ordinary voter and think you're free of blame? Please come back, Falz has prepared your table too.
The rapper pointed a finger at the Nigerians that are only interested in selling their votes for some rice and groundnut oil.
Molestation of underage boys
While sexual molestation of the girl child is being aggressive fought against, most of the time, that of the male child does not see the light of day. Religious 'prophets' that lure and molest children have come under fire in this video.
Those are the same people that criticize homosexuals while doing the same with underage boys.
Religious fanaticism mixed with hatred and spite
The abuse of domestic help by their bosses is a conversation that needs to keep going. Many Nigerian families hire people to help them with chores and their children while they are out at work but many times, the domestic help are treated with a cruel hand.
The average Nigerian woman who is an usher at church has a domestic help suffering abuse at her hands.
The social media activists
We all know a large percentage of the Nigerian online society knows how to do everything except act so if you were formerly on this table, I hate to break it to you but Falz has shattered it.
