25 years after the release of the original The Lion King animation, Disney is coming back with a live-action remake of the classic story. In November 2018, Disney released the first teaser of the remake that hit us with a dose of nostalgia but with this full-length trailer, Disney is sending us right back to our childhood.
Among the many things that excite us about this remake is the star-studded cast with actors like; Donald Glover as Simba, Beyoncé (Nala), Seth Rogan (Pumbaa), Billy Eichner (Timon), Chiwetel Ejiofor (Scar), John Oliver (Zazu), and James Earl Jones (returning to voice Mufasa).
The film is set to be released on July 19 but while we await the release let us tell you all the scenes that gave us goosebumps.
1. Mufasa and Simba overlooking Pride Lands
Yes, the kingdom.
It has been 25 years since we saw Mufasa and Simba overlooking the Pride Lands and seeing it again is making our eyes sting.
The new live-action remake perfectly captures a more realistic similarity to the original and that's how we know our childhood memories will not be messed with in this new movie. Like in the original, Mufasa sits with Simba as he says, "Everything you see exists together in a delicate balance"
2. The fantastic realism
The storyline may have remained the same but we had a feeling the animation in this remake would be a far cry from the original. Well, Disney over-delivered.
With this realism, the movie appeals to adults and children, alike. While Disney is recreating our childhoods, the studio is creating another for millions of children.
The movie's villain, Scar voiced by Chiwetel Ejiofor, is the first to speak in the trailer saying the words, "Life's not fair, is it my little friend? While some are born to feast, others spend their lives in the dark begging for scraps,"
This live-action portrayal of Scar blows our mind. The villain has taken on a more realistic and scary appearance. Sacr is surrounded by his hyenas as the move towards Simba who bolts off.
4. Simba's paw in Mufasa's print
This is shockingly similar to the original movie and emotions heightened in the trailer with the music gradually reaching heights as the trailer speeds up.
Just as Mufasa says "a true king searches for what he can give", Simba places his paw in his father's print and looks forward.
Oh, the chills!
5. The circle of life with Rafiki and Mufasa
As the trailer reaches a close, we see an image of Rafiki painting on a rock when Mufasa's voice comes on saying, "You must take your place in the circle of life"
Disney, take my money already!
