With Gangs of lagos and A Tribe Called Judah, and other hot Nollywood flicks making waves in 2023, it’s not far-fetched to believe that the 2024 releases will scatter records and push Nollywood’s rep worldwide pass how e dey now.
Here are five nollywood movies that are sure to be released in 2024 :
Finding Messiah
Oscar Heman-Ackah, in his directorial debut, elevates “Finding Messiah” with daring costumes and the inclusion of Nollywood legends Pete Edochie, Taiwo Ajai-Lycett, and Alex Usifo. The plot is shrouded in mystery, but the film is set in the fictional Republic of Zambay.
A Better Man
Romance takes center stage in “A Better Man,” featuring Daniel Etim Effiong, Uche Jombo, Tana Adelana, and others. This Uche Jombo production focuses on Dayo and Ogechi, two lovers determined to remind Nigerians about the true meaning of love. Set to hit the screens on or before Valentine’s Day.
Anikulapo: Rise of the Sceptre
Teased by the legendary Kunle Afolayan in 2023, “Anikulapo: Rise of the Sceptre” is a four-part series set to be released on Netflix. While details are scant, the series features comedian Layi Wasabi, Gabriel Afolayan, Sola Sobowale, Kunle Remi, and many more.
Oloture (the series)
Ebonylife Productions revisits 2019 by bringing “Oloture” back to our screens as a TV series on Netflix in 2024. Sharon Ooja, Buccii Franklin, and Stan Nze reprise their roles, joined by new cast members.
Onyegwu
Uche Jombo scores again with “Onyegwu,” a sports drama set for release in 2024. Debuted at AFRIFF 2023, the movie centers on Zubby Michael, portraying a spiritual footballer in search of glory. Nancy Isime, Lateef Adedimeji, Chioma Akpotha, and others join the cast.
