You ever wake up one day, open Netflix, and realize your favorite show just vanished like that? No information, no apology, just gone like that!
Yeah, same. Some of these shows were fan favorites, others were just getting good and then boom, canceled.
Why, why, why!
1. The Wheel of Time (Amazon Prime)
Just when it was getting good, Amazon pulled the plug after Season 3, even though reviews were finally glowing.
They did this because the series was facing ratings that were less than expected and a hefty price tag.
The fate of The Wheel of Time was sealed when the show’s cancellation was announced in late May.
It even had a whooping 7.2/1o rating on IMDb, and an 88% rating on rotten tomatoes.
Fans were ready for more magic, more drama, and more Rosamund Pike slaying in robes, they simply cut it off without even considering our feelings.
No closure. Just vibes and heartbreak.
I honestly feel the story line, the actors and the plot were just too good to have ended it just like that.
2. The Witcher (Netflix – kinda)
Okay, technically it’s not canceled, but when Henry Cavill left and they replaced him with Liam Hemsworth, fans said, “This is not my Geralt.”
Nothing more annoying than actors being changed mid series, like why!
It’s like changing jollof rice to white rice mid-bite. Same plate, different taste.
We were already in love with Henry Cavill as the Witcher, and we could not turn back!
3. Shadow and Bone (Netflix)
This fantasy series had a cult following, rich world building, and a cast that was finally clicking.
Then Netflix said, “Nah.” They canceled it and the Six of Crows spinoff, double homicide.
Shadow and Bone was canceled on November 15, 2023.
If you ever wondered why, you never saw the end of shadow and bone, well here you have it!
4. Mindhunter (Netflix)
David Fincher’s slow-burn crime thriller had us obsessed with serial killers and FBI profiling.
Then Netflix ghosted us after Season 2.
Netflix how could you do us like this! We loved the series!
We were emotionally invested in murder. Don’t judge us.
5. Willow (Disney+)
A nostalgic fantasy reboot with magic, monsters, and Gen Z humor.
It barely had time to breathe before Disney gave it the boot.
Willow was canceled by Disney+ after it failed to generate enough buzz to meet the platform’s expectations.
According to Deadline, the show didn’t perform at the level of other major series and was considered too expensive to justify continuing.
It was quirky, fun, and had potential, but Disney said, “We’re not feeling whimsical this quarter.”
