Without Suffering in Nigeria

It’s the second week of a new month, and somehow… your account balance is already dry. You’re checking your banking app every morning hoping for a miracle alert, yet all you see is that same depressing figure staring back at you. You go hope taya

Sha know you’re not alone (you fit use am hold body).
Many Nigerian youth are fighting this same financial demon.

Let’s help you stretch that salary so it stops disappearing faster than NEPA light during the rainy season.

1. Learn to Budget Smartly

I know you want to argue that “there are unforeseen circumstances.” Yes, we know, that’s Nigeria for you.
But budgeting helps you stay conscious of your spending.
Write it down. Use an app. Or even your WhatsApp notes. Just track something, before you end up wondering how ₦250k vanished in two weeks.

2. Save at Least 20% of Your Earnings

Saving in this economy feels like a miracle, but try small small. Even if it’s ₦5k, move it to a separate account or savings app immediately.
Don’t wait till you “balance everything first,” because you never will.

3. Separate Needs from Wants

You need food stuff. You want shawarma after work stress. One helps you survive; the other empties your wallet with zero remorse.
Prioritize what keeps you alive first, enjoyment can wait till payday (or someone’s birthday).

4. Cook More, Order Less

That ₦4,000 you’re using to buy lunch every day? Multiply it by 20 workdays, that’s rent in some people’s village.
Cooking at home might look stressful, but your account balance will thank you when the month starts dragging.

5. Automate Your Bills

Settle the big stuff (rent, electricity, data) immediately after payday. That way, you won’t fall for random spending temptations like “flash sales” or “limited edition sneakers.”

Your salary isn’t small, your spending habits are just huge. Be intentional, and plan better, before you start feeling wretched by the second week of the month.
