This is the season of IJGBs, and accents are already flying around, left right and Centre.  IJGBs are in town already, batch A, B, C have arrived, and Detty December is already in motion!

But wait, the question is not “are IJGBs in town already” but what exactly happens when they leave?

Let me take you through the things that you might probably witness after they leave Nigeria.

1. Accents Begin to go back to normal

Once IJGB’s leave, the fake accents that Lagosians have been using immediately goes back to normal. They begin to say “Water” instead of the annoying “Wah-Ah” when the IJGBs are around. We can now all understand each other.

2. Prices go back to normal

Nigerian vendors will use any opportunity to inflate prices, and the IJGB period is definitely one of those periods.

Once the IJGBs leave the country, prices begin to go back to normal, and we can all breatheeeeeeee.

The price your hairdresser charges will reduce, those clothes will become cheaper, and everything will go back to normal.

3.Traffic reduces and Uber Prices go back to normal

All those convoys of rented G-Wagons disappear. Suddenly, Lekki traffic feels lighter, the traffic reduces a little bit, and Uber drivers stop saying “Madam, na surge pricing o”

This is one very important way to tell that IJGBs are finally leaving the country.

4. Clubs and lounges return to normal

The December nightlife reduces, and the clubs and lounges are no longer congested every night.

The VIP sections that were once overflowing with IJGB squads suddenly feel spacious.

5. Instagram can finally rest.

The flood of “Detty December” reels and TikToks dries up, replaced by quieter, everyday Lagos vibes. No more “get ready with me as i  go to make my hair for 2,000 dollars”!!

The pressure on everyone reduces and normal Nigerians can now live a normal life.
