Asake dropped a song and didn’t get to No.1 on the charts. What’s going on?

It’s no news that Asake is a superstar at this point. The Nigerian singer rose to fame in 2022 with his hit single “Omo Ope” featuring his label boss, Olamide. The song got him his first ever No.1 song on the charts and once he got the taste of it, Asake didn’t drop the plate again.?

He eventually went on to get 6 more No.1 songs that same year which included every single track he dropped and some other songs from his debut album “Mr Money with the Vibe”.

Asake was on such a roll that he was doing giveaway with the No.1 spot, even for anyone that featured him. Dj spinall and Tiwa Savage were beneficiaries with “Pallazo” and “Loaded” respectively.

But did it stop there? No! Year two and Mr Money did the same thing, gave us some great songs like “2:30”, “Amapiano” and many other favorites like “Lonely at the top” and “Basquait” from his sophomore album which all peaked at No.1 respectively, further establishing his dominance.

In fact, he was so consistent that fans had to name him the “Landlord” of the No.1 spot on the charts, because once he’s there, there’s no removing him. ?

Now here’s the thing, 2024 is here now, and although Mr money ‘s new song “Only me” which he released on his birthday on the 12th of January, is a banger and currently ranking in the top 5 of most charts, e never reach No.1 yet which is pretty unlikely for him.

Do you think it had anything to do with Wizkid releasing an EP during that time? Is the Asake era slowly fading? Or are we putting too much pressure on him?

Whichever one it is, them don turn landlord to tenant o. ?
