Is Society Allowed To Harass Its People Into Doing The Right Thing?

About 2 days ago, a video of a scantily dressed lady whom a group of men was harassing trended on social media.

According to the viral video, the lady had gone to the bus park barely covered up. Some men approached the lady and began pouring water on her to compel her to go back home and get properly dressed.

In defense, the lady could be seen fighting the men back and asking them to leave her alone.

This occurrence sparked a Twitter discourse where many expressed varying opinions about the event. While some women left unpleasant comments, others had vowed to react more aggressively had they been the lady in question.

Some social media users have also raised a motion in support of the men, citing that society has a responsibility to shape its people, one of which was witnessed in the said video. We have also seen those who called men “hypocrites” for harassing the lady in public but engaging in “twerk” videos on social media.

It is clear that a society is responsible for its people, but do you think that it is allowed to harass it’s people into doing the right thing?

Do you think the lady should have been ignored?

Did the men do the right thing by harassing her?

What do you think the best approach should have been?
