We all know October is Halloween month, and that means one thing, costumes everywhere. From spooky to stunning, Lagosians don’t joke with it. But let’s be honest, some of these looks will have you remembering what we feared the most growing up, “Ojuju Calabar.”
Halloween in Lagos has gone from being that oyinbo tradition we just used to see in movies to a full-blown annual event. These days, everywhere you turn, there’s one “scary night” or “haunted party” happening. And trust Lagos people to show up and show out.
You’ll see witches, vampires, celebrities, random cartoon characters, and then one person that just wears white powder and says they’re a ghost. Some people will even show up looking like a spiritual warning instead of a costume.
But one thing you can’t take away is the creativity. From the makeup to the props, the dedication is unmatched. Halloween in Lagos is basically fashion week with extra drama and small fear.
So as October rolls on, brace yourself. Because once the lights go off and the cameras come on, Lagos Halloween will once again be giving full ojuju energy.
