My Wife And In-Laws Want Me To Build My House On Their Property. What Do I Do?

It baffles me when parents interfere in the marriage of their kids. The reason they are married in the first place is because they are old enough to make life decisions and have become independent.

Hello besties, I’m pleased to welcome you to another amebo-filled day. Today’s subject is surprisingly a man. He wants to build his own house but his wife suggests he do on her parent’s property.

“I’m 39, my wife is 36 we have been married for 7 years with 3 children. 6 months after getting married I lost my job, and we didn’t have money to pay rent.
My wife and my in-laws suggested that we move into one of the flats at her parent’s house. I was desperate and didn’t know what to do, so I accepted to move in there. It was easier for me without rent expenses.

We stayed for another six months without a proper job just doing some piece work. I finally found a job and getting good money, instead of moving out I thought it would be nice to start building. I sat down with my wife and we agreed to do so. My wife told her parents about it and they suggested we build on the same property since the land is very big.

I told my wife it was not a good idea to build at my in-laws, she was disappointed and tells me I was ungrateful and should appreciate the offer and help I had received from my in-laws throughout our marriage.

I appreciate the help they have rendered to us throughout our marriage and the offer they have given us. I need help from independent people, my wife and I will be listening. Do you think it’s ok to build at my in-law’s property? or should I buy a plot somewhere else, if so how can I do it without hurting my in-laws and my wife?”
