It’s Monday again, and the Lagos 9-5ers are not finding it funny. Another day to experience traffic like never before. The pain, the torment, the torture!

Well, people that experience Lagos traffic go through five stages, you could simply call it “The five stages of traffic”:

1. Denial:

You tell yourself that the traffic would be over soon. You try to be positive, not dwelling on the negatives, but deep down in your heart, you and I know that you’re going to spend nothing less than an hour in that traffic, but let’s just keep lying to each other.

2.Anger:

Slowly and gradually, you begin to get very irritable, your blood is boiling, all you can see is red. The sweating, the noisy cars, people yelling from all corners makes you even more angry.

You don’t understand why you have to go through this kind of pain every morning.

You’re ready to slap the next person that pisses you off.

Abeg calm down oooo

3. Pity and Prayer:

You look at how neatly dressed you came from your house, but now you take a look at yourself and you’re just a shadow oof the happy person that left home this morning.

You start to ask the universe questions, why don’t you have a private jet, why do you have to suffer every morning, why is the world so wicked. All these questions go through your mind, and honestly, you can’t help but pity yourself and your lowly situation. You even start to pray and promise God a cow if he helps save you from the traffic.

Lol you liar

4. Depression:

The traffic gets even worse by the second, and finally, you give up and accept your fate. Depression hits you like a strong wind. You sink into your seat, scrolling endlessly on Instagram, your playlist doesn’t even excite you.

You finally accept that you might spend half of your morning in that dreaded traffic, and to be honest, you don’t even care anymore.

The traffic can do whatever it choses.

5. Acceptance:

At this point, all hope is lost, you have given up finally.

1 hour has passed and you’re still stuck in traffic.

You just relax, buy gala from the very excited sellers, pair it with a cold drink and at least, have fun while you wait.

Na person wey chop go get strength to survive traffic!
