Ever since his short-lived beef with OdumoduBlvck, a lot of people have been wondering “Who is this Prettyboy D-O that everyone is suddenly talking about?”. But would you be shocked if i told you that he was in the Altè spotlight years before anyone even heard of OdumoduBlvck on a mainstream level?
Donald Ofik , popularly known as Prettyboy D-O, is a Nigerian recording artist with chaotic blend of Afrobeats, hip-hop, Altè, dancehall and R&B.
Although some of you had never heard that name before until the past week, D-O has actually been on his grind. His debut mixtape “Everything Pretty” which he released in 2018 even reached the number one spot on iTunes.
In 2021, he released his album, Love is War, and it appeared on The Fader’s list of top 50 best albums in 2021, so it’s safe to say that although he’s still not mainstream yet, DO is not overlooked in the industry.
And in July 2022, Aluna, Prettyboy D-O, and KoolDrink teamed up to release the amapiano-afrobeat single “Nowhere to Hide”. For the record, he was nominated for the Headies 2022’s Best Reggae and Dancehall artiste.

His style has been described as “culte” (a combination of cult and alté) referring to his large following and mixture of street music and alté genres.
Beyond the multicolored hair and his hypermasculine approach to his music and way of life, Prettyboy is a great lyricist and definitely an artiste to focus on.
In a music era, where OdumoduBlvck and Shallipopi are presently the leading men for Afrobeats music, I’m convinced that the audience will soon pay attention to Pretty D-O and appreciate him for the maverick he has always been.
