6 Signs You’re Now a Certified Baller

2 min

There’s a particular moment in life when you realize, “Omo, I don make am small.”

Not necessarily private jet money. Not “buy a house in Banana Island” money.

Just that sweet spot where certain things that used to make you calculate your entire salary no longer shake you.

You’ve gone from “How much is it?” to “Just bring it.”

Here are some signs you might officially be entering your baller era.

1. You Stopped Taking Danfo

You and public buses have no business again.

Small traffic? Order Bolt.

The journey is just 20 minutes? Order Bolt.

You could technically walk there? Still ordering a ride.

You have reached that stage where standing under the Lagos sun, squeezing yourself between two strangers and shouting “Oya move inside!” is no longer part of your lifestyle.

You’d rather pay for comfort and arrive at your destination with your sanity intact.

2. You Order Food Without Checking the Delivery Fee

₦4,500 delivery fee?

It doesn’t shake you. Rara.

At some point, you used to remove the food from your cart because delivery was almost the same price as the actual meal.

Now?

“Please add it.”

All that matters is getting your food delivered to your doorstep.

You don’t want to enter traffic. You don’t want to look for parking. You don’t want to start explaining your location to a dispatch rider.

You just want your food.

Money can solve some problems, abeg.

3. Your Parents Now Rate You

Before, dem no send you.

You could talk for 30 minutes and your parents would still be looking at you like “Who invited you to this conversation?”

Now things have changed.

Suddenly, you’re being introduced differently.

“This is my son/daughter. He/she works at…”

Ah!

So now you are important?

Your opinion is suddenly requested at family meetings.

Your parents are proudly telling people about your work.

Your aunty that used to ask when you would get a job is now telling people, “She’s doing very well.”

You have entered the family PR department.

4. Black Tax Doesn’t Affect Your Finances

This is when you know things have changed.

You can send money home, pay a bill for someone, help your sibling and still have money left for yourself.

You’re not sending ₦50k home and spending the rest of the month surviving on garri and hope.

You can actually say:

“Don’t worry, I’ve sent it.”

And your account balance doesn’t immediately start looking like a cry for help.

Black tax has not disappeared.

You have simply upgraded enough to handle it.

5. You Have a Gym Membership

It used to be walking around your compound to keep fit.

Maybe doing 15 squats beside your bed and calling it a workout.

Now?

₦40k monthly gym membership.

You have your gym bag.

Your water bottle.

Your gym shoes.

Maybe even your protein powder.

You have started saying things like “I have gym by 6.”

Meanwhile, six months ago, your exercise was chasing korope.

6. You Now Do Home Service

You don’t have the energy to go to the salon anymore.

Why sit in traffic for one hour just to spend another three hours at the salon?

Your new lifestyle is:

“Can you come to the house?”

Hair? Home service.

Nails? Home service.

Pedicure? Home service.

Massage? Home service.

At this point, the only reason you’re leaving your house is because the person providing the service hasn’t figured out how to come to you.

You have discovered the beauty of comfort.

Just So You Know

Being a certified baller isn’t necessarily about having millions in the bank. Sometimes, it’s simply getting to a point where comfort is no longer a luxury and your money can actually afford you some peace.

From ordering rides without thinking twice to sending money home without entering financial crisis, these little lifestyle changes can show that Omo, things are finally looking up.

So, be honest: which one of these told you that you had entered your baller era?
