Hustle Culture And The Toxicity It Poses

The holidays have come to an end and it’s back to all shades of seriousness. “Standing on business” like my brothers and sisters on “X” would say. We are all embracing the new year with a rush and trying to get back on our grind while recovering from “Detty December” spending.

It’s understandable, that the money spent would not make itself back right, and therefore, we’re back to hustling. Back to annoying ringing alarms, jumping in the shower, dashing out the door, barely grabbing breakfast, while fighting through the teeth to get to work, and once you do, it’s meetings all the way, and before you realize it, it’s close of business.

But do you close for business tho, once you’re home, you don’t stop going through your emails and finally fall asleep on the couch while watching one of your favorite shows. The next morning, you wake up to the sound of the blaring alarm and the cycle goes on and on and on.

Hustle culture

The hustle culture causes us to operate on a grind nonstop, fight or flight mode. It’s a psychological complex that causes you to believe that as humans, your utmost value is your productivity. Hence, compelling you to stretch your productivity until it eats deep into your creative abilities.

This has caused a burnout menace in society, and still, we as a people fail to realize that burnout in turn poses risks to both our physical and mental well-being.

Look, I know you’re trying to wipe out poverty from your generation but would you be able to if you’re no more?

2024 isn’t the time to triple your grind. Your cortisol levels need not be raised this year. It’s time for a reset. Work hard and rest even harder. Reward yourself from time and time. Spend more time with your loved ones and family. Take that vacation you have been saving up for so long. Meditate, exercise, and rest again.

2024 is the time to work smarter and not harder. Success is not always by hard work and you need to delete that mentality that the “hustle culture” has coerced you to embrace.

Prioritize yourself and create a work-life balance yourself!!!

Happy New Year!!!
