17 Years of Impact, 17 Editions of Excellence as Indomie Marks Its Annual Teachers’ Seminar on October 17

2 min

Hundreds of teachers from Lagos and Ogun states gathered at the University of Lagos Women Society Hall on October 17, 2026, for the 17th edition of the Indomie Annual Teachers’ Seminar, organised by Dufil Prima Foods Plc.

The date marked a fitting coincidence: 17 years, the 17th edition and the 17th day of October. Beyond the numbers, the seminar focused on preparing educators for a changing world.

Under the theme “21st Century Teaching Essentials: Engagement, Technology and Inclusion for Nigerian Education,” discussions explored interactive teaching, technology and ways to meet students’ diverse learning needs.

Leading the seminar, Professor Mojisola Manuel, Director of the Career Support Development Centre and Professor of Early Childhood Education, explored learner-centred teaching and ways to make learning more interactive. Discussions covered the cognitive, affective and psychomotor domains of learning: knowledge, attitudes and values, and practical skills. Technology and inclusion also featured, highlighting how digital tools can support teaching and how educators can adapt to students’ different needs. The takeaway? Effective teaching requires subject knowledge, creativity, adaptability and continuous learning.

Professional development was on the agenda, but the atmosphere was far from formal.

Teachers enjoyed Indomie meals, branded shirts and caps, games and African music. The National Heritage Dance Troupe added a cultural touch with a performance celebrating Nigerian heritage, while hosts MC Lamu and MC Dandon kept the energy lively. Certificates of participation were also presented.

The blend of learning and entertainment gave teachers a chance to connect, unwind and enjoy a moment in the spotlight.

There was a digital talking point, too. Mrs Ogechukwu Faith Joshua, Indomie National Manager and Coordinator of the Indomie Fan Club, introduced the Indomie Fan Club app during the event.

The introduction added another dimension to the gathering, bringing the brand’s fan community into a programme that also explored the place of technology in everyday life and its introduction offered attendees another development to take note of.

Mr Tope Ashiwaju, Corporate Communications and Events Manager at Dufil, acknowledged teachers’ contributions, while Mrs Oluwakemi Olusaanu, Director of Education, Lagos State Education District IV, emphasised continuous professional development and interactive teaching.

The seminar reflects Dufil’s continued engagement with education, alongside initiatives such as scholarship support and educational facility interventions.

Seventeen editions on, the goal remains to support educators in shaping better learning experiences for Nigeria’s next generation.
