For people living with Sickle Cell Disorder, life often means constant medication, hospital visits, crisis management, and financial strain.
That is why three months of medication can mean more than treatment; it can mean three months of relief.
For over a decade, Dufil Prima Foods, makers of Indomie, has partnered with the Sickle Cell Foundation Nigeria (SCFN) through its “Hope Begins with Care” initiative. Recently, it provided essential medication to over 100 Sickle Cell Warriors, covering three months of care.
The impact goes beyond medicine. For families already managing school fees, rent, and daily needs, removing the cost of treatment, even temporarily, offers real relief.
Caleb Audu, Senior Manager at SCFN, highlighted the burden families face, “Sickle cell management is very expensive. People sell their properties, lose their jobs, and enter survival mode just to give their children a chance at a healthy life.”
He added that Dufil’s support directly funded the drugs provided; “Dufil donated millions to procure these drugs. On behalf of everyone here, we say thank you.”
More Than Medicine
Dufil says the initiative is also about awareness and prevention. Temitope Ashiwaju, Group Corporate Communications and Events Manager, emphasized the need for genotype education to guide decisions around marriage and family planning.
Sustained Impact
This is not a one-off effort. In 2025, Dufil supported the Makoko Community Sickle Cell Outreach Programme, offering healthcare services, genotype testing, health education, and training for primary healthcare workers.
Now in its tenth year, the Dufil-SCFN partnership continues to show the value of consistent, long-term support.
A Timely Relief
For 16-year-old Farida Adedeji, diagnosed at age two, the support eases a major burden in managing lifelong care. While it does not cure Sickle Cell Disorder, it reduces pressure for patients and families, one less worry for the next three months.
Sometimes, hope is not loud. It comes as medicine, support, and the reassurance that someone cares.
For these Sickle Cell Warriors, hope begins with care.
